  1. Horn → 80Mhz channel > Cambium Force 300-16 → Noise floor -90: MCS9 = 1.3km.

    Horn → 80Mhz channel > Generic 802.11ac 16dbi  → Noise floor -90: MCS9 = 420m.

    I can't believe it!

Is this a calculation error, or does Cambium have any special superpowers because the power regulation must be the same, or something else -what?

  2. I think it would be nice if entering basic data could retrieve a list of requirements for customer antennas. Example:

Frequency 5500 MHz, EIRP 30db, Noise floor -90, with CC60, for MCS9 CPE(SM) need to be:

    Channel width 40Mhz

    up to 300m - 13 dBi (dish)
    450m 16 dBi
    700m 19 dBi
    900m 21 dBi
    1.3km 24 dBi
    1.4km 25 dBi

    Channel width 80Mhz

    220m 13 dBi
    350m 16 dBi
    480m 19 dBi
    600m 21 dBi
    900m 24 dBi
    1km 25 dBi

  3. What about EIRP? Perhaps this calculator could be made fairer and help to calculate it instead of the user, ie the calculation changes dBm instead of EIRP. And how far does it make sense to have horns with a different gain if the whole end is leveled at the transmitter's TX power to comply with EIRP?

In this sense, I can take any, 5 gain, 15 gain, everything in the end will be equal to for example 30-36 EIRP (possible MCS has any requirements) 30 = Gain-TXpower.

  4. When planning a well-balanced WISP network, you are definitely working with calculators, one of which will be an angle calculator. As you know, between AP / antennas, an 80Mhz frequency protection band is recommended, but in reality, no one can afford it, so variants with small side lobes (to reduce mutual interference) and even GPS synchronization are not considered in ABAB mode, but simply for adjacent devices. (life hak).
And now look at some of the chaos created by the horns. Everything is out of the planned angle is a potential mutual interference problem. Probably this is what many people see when they look at such pictures.image.png.c526cafade5ac18df3d7405c8c099ed1.png

  5. After what you wrote, I repeat that I do not really know. From the comments, I conclude that only few know exactly how it works. Many experiment, but I want to stick to academic knowledge at first and only then experiment (eg with Fresnel / Arago / Stand waves specific).

I previously assumed that 4x4 MU-MIMO is a group (possible in a different horizontal plane) and in a group it works according to the lowest MCS (if someone in the group has only MCS2 then it will be the whole group), therefore, MU-MIMO is used only if if SU-MIMO can no longer be effective (the AP itself calculates which option will be more efficient).

The Cambium forum has WISP, which with horns placed on their side, trying to realize 4x4 and MU-MIMO - https://community.cambiumnetworks.com/t/epmp-3000-ap-and-dual-horns/67660

How is it really there - 4x4 SU-MIMO with THB, 4x4 with horns in different directions, with Cambium Dual Horn (I heard you developed) and MU-MIMO with / without band? Can you tell us now without waiting for a webinar, video, etc.?

  6. Some WISPs with epmp3000 and two horns achieve MU-MIMO by pointing each horn to the other side (each horn only sees its own CPE group). If I'm not mistaken, it's called the split sector. You could make such a bracket, where it is possible to place 2 horns (symmetrical and asymmetrical) and where each can be adjusted to its side (both horizontally and vertically).

  7. I think BE is more for CPE, but the FTB is a mast for colocation.  "The fish is blowing from the head."

I also think that the criteria for awarding a Carrier class need to be reviewed (for example P2P SAF FreeMile Parabolic Frequency: 24.05 - 24.25 GHz, Gain: 45.1 dBi (high-band), Half power beamwidth: 1.0°, Cross-polar discrimination: 30dB, Front-to-back ratio: 70dB). Of course PTMP will have a different FTB ratio, but not 27 dB.

  8. I find it strange that antennas with such an FBI rating can be assigned a class carrier.
The question of why this is important also seems strange, but perhaps it was meant differently.

Smaller FBI, more noise. It probably doesn't affect that much if everyone on the mast is horn, but in the case of a hybrid, it makes more noise than if there were no horn. Noise is the biggest invisible enemy.

  9. Why Mikrotik SXT and other antennas front to back ratio is better then horn or similar 30-35 (...horn high-frequency currents do not have time to pass into the electric field and flow to the external surface of the horn and create side lobes, but if in case they have a ribbed inside, it helps a bit)?

  10. 1. Where there are contradictions?
'We have no detailed documentation for ePMP 3000 so we cannot comment on the results you should be seeing "
Your Twin Horn Bracket product datasheet indicates compatibility with Cambium Networks ™ ePMP ™ 3000.

    1. If you use a pair of horns with the official RF Elements "Twin Horn Bracket" you will not see any MU-MIMO. Although besides MU-MIMO system will work perfectly fine.

    Who is speculating here?
Do you have any disagreements with Cambium?

  11. Why are Horn CC antennas with N-female connectors more expensive than TwistPort Horn + TwistPortTM Adapter with SMA Connectors?

If the TwistPort waveguide is a near-zero loss transmission line (direct connection to the waveguide) what happens to the losses at the N-female output (how much do I understand it is internally connected to the cables)?

What is the benefit of N-female connector interface over RP-SMA female connector interface?

  12. Does the  cover shown in the picture come with it? -one specification only mentions screws. Why is it not mentioned anywhere and if it does not come in the set, then what the hell, if there is a special place for it? .. & why drill holes if there could have been both holes but moving the cap to one side or the other. Are RF Element Engineers Really Good?
